Job Description:

The School seeks outstanding individuals for two tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions. Both include undergraduate and graduate instruction in design studios and coursework. Primary areas of expertise include

  • Architectural Design Studios?with particular interest in Beginning Design Studios, and in Architectural Design Studios ranging across the design studio sequence from Beginning/Core, Advanced Topics and Urban, and Graduate studios
  • Digital Media and Representation coursework?for required Architectural Analysis coursework, and Advanced Elective courses in digital media, fabrication and related. Areas of expertise may range from generative and parametric design and analysis, BIM, Building Performance Simulations, CIM, responsive and interactive environments, robotic fabrication and artificial intelligence, VR/AR/ER, and applications related to preservation.
  • Construction Materials + Assemblies inclusive of experience with contemporary and historic building technologies and preservation

Candidates whose range of expertise and experience includes other areas of expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate coursework and Architectural Design studios, advise students, participate in program development, undertake scholarly/ creative/professional work commensurate with graduate teaching in architecture, and participate in institutional and community service. Outstanding candidates who may have full-time teaching experience may be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor level.


Requirements:

Design excellence is a primary criteria for appointment. Interests and capabilities in sustainable and resilient design are expected. Candidates interested in interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the school, and with scholarly and professional colleagues regionally, nationally and internationally are particularly encouraged.

Successful candidates will have completed a professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch., M.Arch, or D.Arch), teaching experience, and have a record of scholarly, professional and creative achievement. A post-professional degree and/or professional experience is expected. Professional registration in Architecture is strongly desired, and is expected to be achieved over the tenure track if not on initial appointment.

At the University’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
