Announcement: faculty search

The Bucks County Community College Historic Preservation program marks our 30th year of preservation education this year and we are hiring new part-time instructors.

Historic Preservation is undergoing fundamental change: we seek to supplement our faculty with preservation and public history practitioners who have fresh perspectives and real-world experiences that will help us build a more contextual and inclusive approach to HP. Whether your work is in advocacy, documentation, architectural conservation/preservation trades, or other areas, we encourage you to apply. We see this as an opportunity to bring in new voices, whether it be experienced practitioners looking to share their experiences or tomorrow’s preservation thought-leaders who want to get hands-on experience creating and managing their own course(s) and working with the variety of constituencies that seek to earn the HP Certificate offered by Bucks. For more experienced instructors, we might also look at leadership opportunities.

Our courses are primarily conducted through eLearning (Bucks provides pedagogical training for this), but new faculty would be modality-agnostic. The new faculty would teach or coteach one of the NCPE-designated core courses (Theory, Architectural History, Documentation, Conservation) and develop a new course in their specialty area.

Preservationists leveraging new technologies or with experience in preservation trades should emphasize this in their cover letter. We also seek applicants whose experiences include advocacy, working with diverse communities, and documenting places where more recent history has created meaning for current residents (not just the “George Washington slept here!” properties).

We hope you will consider applying today!
Faculty salaries are a union-negotiated $3500/course.
